So why did we start St Austell Handyman?

We’ll be the first to admit, sometimes “dreckly” just doesn’t cut it! We love the Cornish lifestyle but soon realised that there was a gap in the market for reliable and consistent handyman support for the local area. We want to remove the anxiety from booking and arranging work by providing a top quality service, using local tradesmen who love what they do!

We train, develop and manage our team of handymen to provide our local community with the consistent home improvement service they deserve.

Meet the team

Sam | Founder

Sam created waves in 2023 when he started St Austell Handyman, St Austell’s first digital quoting handyman service. With over 13 years of experience in high end property renovation, Sam’s extensive background spans various construction trades, from laying foundations all the way through to finish carpentry.

Sam’s level of knowledge, wealth of experience, attention to detail, punctuality and organising skills were of short supply, resulting in rapid growth of St Austell handyman.

Sam has developed the business from humble beginnings where he completed the work solely himself but soon realised the demand was increasing and he needed computer systems and reliable staff that would keep his customers happy and not let things become a disorganised mess!

Thanks to Sam’s perseverance, St Austell Handyman now has a live booking schedule, managing a wide range of jobs for clients across the area.

A hub of ideas and vision, Sam is continually driving St Austell Handyman forward, developing new services and innovative ways to improve your experience with us!

Sam’s aim is to create a service he is able to one day use himself, and take some well deserved time off!

Outside of work, Sam loves to explore his Cornish home; He is often found exploring the coastal path, on foot, bike or kayak while scouting new fishing locations in the St Austell bay area. And, (on occasion!), sitting in one of his favourite pubs!

Ruby | Business Development Manager

As head of sales and communication, Ruby is responsible for answering your calls and managing our social media. She is also our website lead. Thankfully she is a sponge for learning, so anything which is outside of her capacity doesn’t stay that way for long. She’s fast becoming the backbone of the success of St Austell Handyman.

Ruby has just completed a BSc in plant science from the Eden project university centre (Don’t worry, we are launching a gardening service ASAP!) as well as comprehensive marketing and PR experience across a range of industries including education, retail, food and drink and everything in between. 

Thanks to Ruby, Sam has been kept on track and encouraged to achieve his goals!

When not monitoring social media accounts, and taking calls, Ruby will be spending time with her family out in the Cornish countryside, or gardening, and being kept busy by our Bordoodle – Elsa!

Elsa | Chief Morale Officer

Meet Elsa, the fluffiest member of the St Austell Handyman team! With her wagging tail and endless enthusiasm, Elsa brings a smile to everyday.

Outside of work, Elsa is often found on Par beach playing with her friends.
